CBDC Restigouche Inc.
The Restigouche CBDC is a not-for-profit organization located in Restigouche County, Northern New Brunswick, and was incorporated in 1988. It is managed by a volunteer Board of Directors, composed of 12 business people, representing the different areas of Restigouche County. Its current team of 28 employees manages various business loans and labour force programs.
Over 20 years, the Restigouche CBDC has acquired the expertise and capabilities needed to deliver government programs of significant scale, including project management expertise and financial control management. We deliver annually an average of four ongoing governmental programs in partnership with agencies including the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, Human Resources and Skills Development Canada, Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour New Brunswick, and Social Development New Brunswick. These four ongoing programs include the Business Loan Program, the Seed Capital ConneXion Program for Young Entrepreneurs, the Self-Employment Benefit Program and the Entrepreneur Program – Loan Guarantee.
We are part of a network of 268 autonomous organizations across Canada working in cooperation with all levels of government and the private sector. The Pan Canadian Community Futures Group is the largest, most well-established community economic development network in Canada, representing some 268 CFDCs and CBDCs across the country. In Atlantic Canada, CBDCs are supported by the Atlantic Canada Opportunity Agency (ACOA). There are 41 such Corporations in Atlantic Canada, all in rural areas.
The Restigouche CBDC has also initiated and participated in the implementation of various short-term government and community programs. Through these initiatives, our organization has developed strong partnerships with many governmental ministries and local organizations.
